The Romanian manager is reported to have signed a one-year contract extension.

Beşiktaş were closely linked with Lucescu as was Fenerbahçe.

Slaven Bilic recently resigned from his position as Beşiktaş manager as did Fenerbahçe head coach Ismail Kartal.

Bilic and Kartal failed to win any silverware last season.

Former Turkish national team manager Şenol Güneş is expected to take over at Beşiktaş while Vitor Perieira is being touted as the Yellow Canaries next boss.

Lucescu previously managed Beşiktaş and won the Süper Lig as Black Eagles head coach in 2002-03.

The former Beşiktaş boss also coached Galatasaray between the 2000-02 seasons, during which time he won the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid and reached the quarter-finals in the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League.
