Jose Sosa revealed that when he learned about the project Beşiktaş had in place he wanted to join the club.

“We have a young team which lacks some experience,” Sosa said.

“Beşktaş are definitely title contenders but what I really liked about the club is that there is a vision, a project in place and that convinced me to join.

“They are not just focused on short term goals, they see the bigger picture and I am sure that we will achieve success.

“We will push for the title until the very end, whether it is this season or the next Beşiktaş will become very successful in this league and in Europe.”

The Black Eagles president took radical steps to restructure the club when Fikret Orman took charge in 2012.

The club implemented short-to-long-term plans to become a club that pays particular attention to youth infrastructure, facilities and scouting as well as reducing debts.

Sosa also highlighted the difficulties the club currently face in competing with Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.

“Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are financially in a stronger position,” Sosa said.

“But we are still able to compete with them.

“We have to believe in ourselves, everybody from the staff to the players must believe we can win.

“Anything is possible,  there is a great team spirit in the camp and we are still settling in together.

“I believe we will see the best of this side in the second half of the season.”

Sosa spent last season on loan at La Liga champions Atletico Madrid before joining Beşiktaş from his parent club Metalist Kharkiv.
