Besiktas reach loan agreement with Chelsea midfielder

Beşiktaş have struck an agreement with Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel to loan the Nigerian international in January according to the AMK.

The report states that the 28-year-old midfielder wants first team football. Mikel has only played six minutes for the reigning Premier League champions this season.

Mikel still has another two-years on his contract and has made a total of 340 appearances for the Blues since joining from FK Lyn back in 2004 for a move that cost in total £14 million.

The Black Eagles were in talks with the experienced midfielder over the summer but football agent Mesrin İzzet claimed Blues boss Jose Mourinho wanted Mikel to stay at the club.

The agent told Turkish football radio Radyospor that he has a mandate from Mikel’s agent to represent his client in Turkey.

“Mikel could join Beşiktaş in January in-fact it would not be a surprise as he wants to play in Turkey and wants first team football,” İzzet said.

Beşiktaş currently have one former Chelsea player in Gökhan Töre playing for them and sold former Blues striker Demba Ba to Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua over the transfer window for €14 million.
