The Turkish Super League champions Besiktas are preparing to table an offer for Liverpool’s France international defender Mamadou Sakho according to The Sun.

The daily tabloid states that Besiktas are looking into the possibility of signing Sakho as they look to strengthen their defence. Per-the-source, Liverpool want to recoup the £18 million they spent on him when they signed Sakho from PSG.

The 26-year-old’s Liverpool future has been cast in doubt after he was sent home by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp during their tour of the US tour due to disciplinary issues.

The Sun goes onto state that that Sakho was suspended at the end of last season for failing a drugs test. UEFA went onto dismiss the case however, the 26-year-old missed the closing weeks of the Premier League season, the Europa League final against Sevilla and Euro 2016.

Liverpool recorded a win in their opening week of the Premier League season following a 4-3 win over Arsenal.
