Besiktas target international Chelsea midfielder

Besiktas have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s Nigeria international midfielder John Obi Mikel.

The Turkish Super Lig broadcaster LigTv has reported that the Black Eagles are preparing a replacement for Atiba Hutchinson if the Canada international leaves over the summer.

Mikel is understood to be at the top of Besiktas’ transfer targets and the Istanbul giants will table an offer for the 29-year-old if Atiba joins West Ham United.

The Nigeria international reportedly turned down a £110k-a-week offer from Galatasaray back in January following the appointment of Guus Hiddink. Mikel returned to form after struggling for game time under Jose Mourinho.

Besiktas have established close ties with Chelsea over the past few seasons and approached the Blues for consultation on restructuring the academy and scouting system last season.

The Black Eagles signed Demba Ba from the reigning champions last season and star winger Gökhan Tore was also a former Chelsea player.
