Besiktas’ Tolgay has €5 million release clause in contract

Besiktas’ new transfer Tolgay Arslan has a €5 million release clause in his contract according to various newspapers in Turkey including Takvim.

According to the report Besiktas wanted the 25-year-old’s release clause to be set at €8 million but the request was rejected by the players agent. The clause can only be activated by foreign clubs.

Arslan was closely linked with Arsenal and a number of Italian clubs prior to his transfer to Beşiktaş.

Trabzonspor were also in talks with the former HSV midfielder and were reported to have offered better terms.

Arslan joined the Black Eagles on a €400,000 transfer from Hamburg on a 3.5 year deal yesterday. The assiduous midfielder will make €650,000 until the end of the current league campaign and €1.3 million next season.

The 24-year-old scored on his debut for the Black Eagles in the Turkish Cup last week.
