Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman has revealed that he turned down the chance to sign Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas.
Orman claims that the players agent offered Casillas to the club on a deal worth €6 million per-season.
“There is no doubting what Casillas has won and what a great keeper he is but we want hungry players to take us forward and have made the mistake of signing these types of players before,” Orman was quoted as saying in the Fanatik.
Casillas has also been closely linked with another Süper Lig club. Fenerbahçe have made the Real Madrid goalkeeper a two-year deal according to La Gazetta dello Sport.
The Spanish international keeper is expected to leave the Spanish giants after spending 16 years at Madrid.
The experienced keeper won five league titles, three Champions Leagues and two Spanish cups during his time at the club.
Arsenal have also been closely linked with the Spanish international star keeper recently following speculation that he will leave Real Madrid according to the Telegraph.
