Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic has stated that his side has the strength and belief to eliminate Liverpool in the Europa League.
Besiktas have been paired with Liverpool in the last 32 of the Europa League after the draw for the tournament’s first knockout round was made in Switzerland this afternoon.
Bilic spoke with reporters following the draw.
“We would rather have played another team, Liverpool were not exactly our first choice but there are no easy teams in this competition,” Bilic said.
“But as I have said all along we have great self-belief and have the strength to beat anyone.
“Revenge is a strong word, I mean we are not going to war, I do not like to create any animosity so I will not get involved in this.
“This is a new era at the club, we won’t be thinking about what happened before, none of us were even here.
“We are just looking forward to facing Liverpool.
Besiktas topped their group in the Europa League and currently sit at the top of the Turkish Super League with 29 points from 13 games.
