Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he was puzzled with his sides response following the 3-1 loss against Club Brugge in the Europa League Last 16 second-leg.

The Black Eagles ended up crashing out of the Europa League 5-2 on aggregate following their shock home loss.

“We have played well in first half and scored at the beginning of second half,” Bilic told Goal.

“Everything was going as we had hoped. However, I did not understand anything after Brugge’s first goal on the night.”

Beşiktaş opened the scoring early in the second half thanks to a stunning strike from Ramon Motta.

The Black Eagles would have booked a place in the last eight had they kept onto their one goal lead.

The Turkish giants imploded after scoring the goal, goalkeeper Tolga Zengin was at fault for the equaliser and he almost gifted another goal soon after.

Bilic did switch from a 4-2-3-1 setup to a 4-4-2 going into the game due to Atiba Hutchinson and Jose Sosa being out injured.

The Croatian manager is expected to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 in the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on Sunday.
