The goal was not enough to secure the Crescent-Stars all three points as the Netherlands rescued a point in the second minute of additional time.

Yılmaz’s Galatasaray team-mate Wesley Sneijder took a shot that deflected off Huntelaar to make the score 1-1.

The Lions are currently first in the Süper Lig but only one point ahead of Beşiktaş and two ahead of third placed Fenerbahçe.

Yılmaz has a total of 17 goals in all competitions for Galatasaray this season. The 29-year-old striker has 16 goals in 38 international games for Turkey.

The 28-year-old has scored the second highest number of Süper Lig goals this season – 14.
