Çalhanoğlu – ‘Fatih Terim will not explain his decisions’ [divider]
Hakan Çalhanoğlu revealed that Turkish national team coach Fatih Terim has not bothered to explain why he dropped the Bayer Leverkusen star from the Crescent-Stars.
“I tried getting in touch with Fatih Terim,” Çalhanoğlu told German newspaper Express.
“But up till now he has not responded and will not communicate with me, he has not explained his decision.”
Terim was heavily criticised for his decision to drop Bayer duo Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak while calling up Gökhan Töre.
A friend of Töre pulled a gun on Çalhanoğlu and Toprak in an altercation last year while on national team duty.
“I do not know the motive behind his decision but I have done nothing wrong, I believe in justice and believe in the long wrong the right call will be made,” Çalhanoğlu said.
Çalhanoğlu has made seven assists and scored eight goals for Leverkusen this season.
The 20-year-old was named best young player of the 2013/14 season by leading German football magazine 11 Freunde.
Toprak has made more Champions League appearances than any other Turkish national team defender.
