Bayer Leverkusen beat Hannover 96 4-0 at the BayArena to move above Borussia Mönchengladbach into an automatic UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
Ömer Toprak, Julian Brandt, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Stefan Kießling all got on the scoresheet for the Werkself.
Hannover, now winless in 13 matches, sacked manager Tayfun Korkut after the game.
Turkish international Toprak opened the scoring with a near-post header via compatriot Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s corner kick.
The goal was Toprak’s first of the season for the Bundesliga outfit.
The 26-year-old put in a fine defensive performance making two tackles, three interceptions and eight clearances. Toprak was awarded a 9.00 rating by Whoscored.
Çalhanoğlu now has 10 assists and 11 goals in all competitions this season.
The 21-year-old provided another assist from set-pieces against Hannover. Çalhanoğlu is regarded as being one of the best set-piece specialists in world football.
Pep Guardiola recently revealed that he is also a fan of the young attacking midfielder, “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”
The Turkish international made 38 passes at an 84 percent accuracy, delivered 11 crosses and made six key passes over the course of the match.
