Cenk Gönen feels he contributed towards Beşiktaş’s 2-1 victory against Partizan in Europa League Group C.

The 26-year-old keeper was asked about his last minute save preventing Partizan from equalising.

Cenk said, “I was fully concentrated on the ball, instincts took over and after I had made the save it felt great.

“I felt I did my part and contributed towards victory.

“Overall it was a good night for the team, the goal I conceded deflected off Pedro Franco’s right foot which changed the trajectory of the shot so I was a little unfortunate there.

“I haven’t found it easy to get playing time over the past two seasons so try my best when I do get a shot.”

Cenk also believes Beşiktaş will make it out of the group stages and progress further into the competition.

“We are in a good position, we are first along with Tottenham and can guarantee qualification in the next game.

“Moral is high again, after two weeks of losing we needed that and hopefully this is the start of a win streak.”

Cenk joined Beşiktaş from Denizlispor in 2010 and has made 78 appearances for the Black Eagles.

The 26-year-old keeper replaced injured first-choice goalkeeper Tolga Zengin.
