Cesena terminate Hugo Almeida’s contract

Serie A side Cesena have terminated Hugo Almeida’s contract with the club after signing the Portuguese international striker just three months ago.

Cesena released a statement on their official website confirming that the had parted company with the 30-year-old striker.

Almeida made nine appearances for Cesena this season but is yet to score a goal. Cesena currently find themselves in 19. place in the league with one win, six draws and 12 defeats this season.

Almeida moved to Beşiktaş for €3 million from Werder Bremen in July 2011.

The Portuguese international scored 37 goals in 88 appearances for the Black Eagles.

Almeida became a free transfer last summer after Beşiktaş failed to meet his wage demands which were reported to be in the region of €3 million per-season.

The Black Eagles opted to sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba instead.

The Senegalese international has already scored more goals than Almeida did all last season. The 30-year-old scored 15 goals in 33 appearances, Ba already has 16 goals this season.

Almeida has been linked with moves to Fiorentina, Bursaspor and Balikesirspor in recent weeks.
