Chelsea considering £2.58m offer for veteran with 10-years experience at the club

Chelsea are reported to be considering Galatasaray’s loan offer for John Obi Mikel according to Mynet.

Per the source, the Lions put forward an offer with £2.58 million and want the Chelsea midfielder on a three-year deal.

The Blues could end up losing Mikel on a free transfer next season if they decide to keep him on at the club and considering he is not expected to feature heavily in Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s plans the Lions offer may entice the Premier League outfits to consider letting the club veteran leave.

Galatasaray are currently considering a number of alternatives to Lucas Leiva who was on the verge of joining the club last week.

Lions sporting director Levent Nazifoglu did reveal that the club would seek alternatives following Lucas Leiva’s transfer from Liverpool hitting the rocks.

“We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva, we will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead,” Nazifoglu was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.

The Istanbul giants have been targeting, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Fellaini as well.

Mikel joined Chelsea from Norwegian outfit Lynn back in 2016 for £17 million and has made 378 appearances for the Blues.

The experienced defender is currently out with the Nigerian national team at Rio and will miss the Blues opening game of the season against Chelsea.
