Chelsea defender set for Besiktas medical

Kenneth Omeruo

Chelsea’s Nigeria international centre-back Kenneth Omeruo is set to undergo a medical with the Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas.

A source close to the club told Turkish-Football.com that Omeruo is expected undergo a medical with Besiktas this week and that the transfer is very close to being finalised.

Chelsea recently rejected an offer from Celta Vigo for Kenneth Omeruo according to Nigerian newspaper Today. The report claims that the La Liga outfit made a last ditch move for the Nigerian international but that the Blues turned down the deal due to having already reached an agreement to loan the defender out to Besiktas.

Omeruo has already settled into life in Istanbul having enjoyed a season at Kasimpasa. The 22-year-old will only have to move a short distance up the Sea of Marmara to the Bosphorus from the Istanbul minnows to Besiktas.
