Chelsea make enquiries into signing out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder

Barcelona Arda Turan

Chelsea have made enquiries into the possibility of signing Barcelona’s midfielder Arda Turan according to the Spanish publication Sport.

The report states that Chelsea are keen on the Turkish international has have held informal talks with Barcelona  over the availability of Turan this summer. The Turkey international turned down a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of a move to Barcelona last summer.

Turan joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid last summer for £34 million however, the 29-year-old has made just 25 appearances for the Catalan giants since arriving at the Nou Camp.

The former Galatasaray star failed to live up to expectations following his move from Atlético Madrid with some poor decision making and selfish play during his 18 La Liga matches (9 starts). Turan played 245 minutes at this summer’s Euro 2016 but wasn’t involved in either of Turkey’s two goals as they were eliminated at the group stage.

Turan has won every domestic title in Spain and Turkey as well as all European competitions trophies except the Champions League although he did reach the final with Atletico Madrid.
