Chelsea make shock move to sign former Man Utd striker Robin van Persie

Turkey League

Chelsea have made a move for Fenerbahce’s star striker Robin van Persie according to the Express newspaper.

The Netherlands international is having a difficult time in Istanbul at Fenerbahce after joining from Manchester United at the start of the season.

The Express  goes onto state that the transfer hinges on whether Chelsea sign Corinthians’ Brazil striker Alexandre Pato this week.

Van Persie has nine goals and an assist since joining Fenerbahce on a three-year deal.

Former Manchester United star and football pundit Rio Ferdinand revealed that he believes his former side made a big mistake selling Van Persie over the summer.

“The likes of Robin van Persie guarantee you 15 goals a season,” Ferdinand said speaking on BT Sport 1 after the goalless draw between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Fenerbahce ended up winning the game 6-1 over Giresunspor and Van Persie ended the game with a brace.

The Yellow Canaries take on Kasimpasa in their next Turkish Super Lig game.
