Chelsea star Eden Hazard arrived in Turkey on day of coup

Chelsea star Eden Hazard arrived in Turkey on the same day as the coup d’etat attempt.

Hazard arrived in Antalya yesterday ahead of Samuel Eto’o’s charity match which was set to be played today at the Antalya, Arena stadium.

The Chelsea star was however, far away from the events that unfolded in Istanbul and Ankara last night as he was on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

Order is reported to have been resumed now across the country and Hazard is believed to be safe.

The charity game was set to mark the 10th year anniversary of his charitable foundation the “Fundacion Privada Samuel Eto’o”.

The Cameroon international striker founded his charity in 2006 and which aims to provide basic healthcare as well as improve social inclusion operating in West Africa.

Several Barcelona stars including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and Arda Turan were also in Turkey when the attempted coup took place.
