Chelsea striker who scored just one goal last season linked with move abroad

Loic Remy

Besiktas have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s out-of-favour striker Loic Remy according to LigTv.

The Turkish Super League broadcaster states that Besiktas are lining up alternative’s for Mario Gomez who is still their primary target this summer. Gomez was Besiktas’ stop scorer last season but decided against extending his loan spell at the club earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Turkish sports newspaper AMK state that Besiktas are in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of Remy – who has fallen out of favour and down the pecking order at the club.

The France international managed just one Premier League goal last season for the Blues in 13 appearances, most of which were pff the bench.

A source close to Turkish-football.com revealed that Remy is on the Black Eagles shortlist along with four other strikers including Liverpool forward Christian Benteke and last seasons loan star Mario Gomez.

Remy has 31 international caps for France, scoring seven times since his debut in 2009 under the stewardship of Raymond Domenech against Nigeria.

Besiktas take on the newly promoted Alanyaspor in their opening game of the Turkish Super Lig season.
