Chelsea transfer news: Blues close to agreeing move for Bayer Leverkusen star

Chelsea are close to striking a deal or Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to the Sun.

Per-the-source, the Blues are eyeing the Turkey international as a replacement for the Brazilian playmaker Oscar.

The report goes onto state that Calhanoglu is being valued at £17 million by Leverkusen.

The Sun reports that the 22-year-old’s proposed arrival may signal Oscar’s departure from Stamford bridge.

Calhanoglu is widely regarded as being one of the best in the business with a phenomenal free-kick scoring record – 11 in the Bundesliga. Even Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola described him as being one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga stating, “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”

The 22-year-old is a set-piece maestro not limited to scoring direct free-kicks Calhanoglu also has lethal delivery and takes just about every corner and dead ball situation for the currency Bayer side.

Calhanoglu has provided four assists and scored three goals in all competitions for Leverkusen this season.
