Chelsea transfer news: French giants want Remy as replacement for Arsenal target who scored 21 times last season

French giants Lyon are targeting Chelsea flop Loic Remy as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette should Arsenal sign the star striker according to the Mirror.

Per the source, Lyon have made an enquiry to the Blues regarding signing Remy on a loan deal this season.

Lacazette faces an uncertain future at Lyon with the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and PSG all being closely linked.

Arsenal remain favourites to sign the striker who scored 21 league goals last season but have yet to strike a deal.

The French striker would become the 16th Chelsea player to leave on loan if he were to leave and that figure is set to increase until the end of the transfer window.

Lyon could face competition for Remy from Besiktas who also wants the powerful striker on loan and will be able to offer him Champions League group stage football.

A source close to Turkish-football.com revealed that Remy is on the Black Eagles shortlist along with four other strikers including Liverpool forward Christian Benteke and last seasons loan star Mario Gomez.

Remy scored just one Premier League goal last season for the Blues in 13 appearances but has another two-years remaining on his contract.
