Czech international defender Tomas Sivok needs surgery

Beşiktaş have released a statement confirming that defender Tomas Sivok will undergo surgery on his thumb.

Sivok was rushed to hospital during the match against Trabzonspor at the Avni Aker stadium on Sunday.

The Czech Republic international suffered a head injury in the second half and was taken to hospital for tests.

Medical tests showed that Sivok did not actually suffer any damage to his face or skull but that he injured his thumb instead.

The statement read: “Tomas Sivok suffered a broken thumb on his right hand, he will undergo an operation at the Acıbadem Fulya hospital.”

Sivok is expected to feature in next weeks Süper Lig game against Gaziantepspor.

Beşiktaş ended up beating Trabzonspor 2-0 and ending the Black Sea Storms six match home win streak.

The Black Eagles returned to the top of the table overtaking rivals Fenerbahçe who temporarily became leaders following the 4-3 win over Balıkesirspor.

Galatasaray will join Beşiktaş at the top of the table with a win against Akhisar today.
