Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba admitted he was disappointed with his sides performance despite the 2-1 away win over Rizespor.
“I must admit our performance was below average tonight, especially in the first half,” Ba told the official Beşiktaş website.
“However, the desire we displayed in the second half brought us the victory. It was an important win for team because it put us back in the driver’s seat again.”
Ba scored the winning goal to record the Black Eagles sixth consecutive away win.
The Senegalese international has now scored 20 goals in the 26 appearances in all competitions.
Beşiktaş have the best away form in the league, the Istanbul giants have won nine out of their 10 away games this season.
The win took the Eagles into first place on 44 points but Beşiktaş were criticised for their performance after the game.
Slaven Bilic’s side failed to put 9-man Rizespor under sustained bouts of pressure and relied on a late penalty to win the game.
Beşiktaş face a tricky test against in-form Bursaspor next week.
