Diego Simeone’s best moment of last season was beating Chelsea [divider]
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone revealed that his best moment in last seasons Champions League was beating Chelsea in the semi-final.
“My best moment was the whole game against Chelsea,” Simeone told Goal.
“The game in London was the best way we have interpreted a match, especially given the difficulty of going a goal behind.”
Atleti went into the second leg at Stamford Bridge having held the Blues to a goalless draw in Spain.
Spanish international put Chelsea ahead in London but goals from Adrian Lopez, Diego Costa and Arda Turan gave Atleti a ticket to the final.
The Rojiblancos lost the final against rivals Real Madrid but won the La Liga title.
Atleti take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Last 16 next as they attempt to go one further than last season and win the trophy.
The first-leg will be played in Germany and the return leg will be held at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid.
Turkish international Turan is expected to start for Atleti while Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak are expected to play for Bayer Leverkusen.
