Dortmund star dropped going into Liverpool clash

Ilkay Gundogan Man City

Liverpool take on Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League quarter-final today which is never an easy task but they were given a late boost following news that Ilkay Gundogan did not make the match day team due to injury.

Gundogan has recovered from injury but failed a late fitness test and was not included in the team as a result.

The 24-year-old midfielder is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the Dortmund side but the Germans are still spoilt for choice in terms of quality with Aubamayang, Reus and Mikhtarian all starting.

Fellow Germany born Turk Nuri Sahin has been included in the match day team but goes into the game on the bench.

Sahin knows Liverpool well having played for the Premier League giants on a brief six-month loan from Real Madrid back in 2013.

Liverpool star Emre Can was also born in Germany to Turkish parents and will also start.
