Emre Belozoglu involved in fist fight with Besiktas fans

Fenerbahçe midfielder Emre Belözoğlu was involved in a scuffle with Beşiktaş fans on an interprovincial ferry according to Hürriyet.

The Turkish international was travelling to Bursa for an opening ceremony on the same ferry with Black Eagles supporters who were en route to Manisa for the Süper Lig match against Akhisar on May 14.

A fight broke out after a section of the Beşiktaş fans verbally abused Belözoğlu.

“They surrounded me on the ferry and swore. So, I climbed down and fought with them. I made a complaint against the assailants. Right now, I am testifying at a police station in Eskihisar,” Belözoğlu said, speaking to Hürriyet after the incident.

Başakşehir player Orhan Ak who was with Belözoğlu reportedly drew a gun resulting in the Beşiktaş supporters fleeing the scene.

Ak has however, denied claims that he pulled a gun on the Beşiktaş fans and instead stated that had the other passengers not intervened the assailants would have thrown them into the sea.

Belözoğlu was recently on the Fenerbahçe team bus that was shot at following the 5-1 win over Rizespor leaving the vehicle’s driver Ufuk Kıran hospitalised.
