Can was included in Liverpool’s starting line-up by manager Brendan Rodgers following an injury to club captain Jordan Henderson last weekend.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man played alongside Lucas Leiva and James Milner in a three-man midfield. Can made two key passes, two tackles and two interceptions.

Summer signings Benteke, Milner and Clyne all made their third start’s for Liverpool yesterday.

The Reds have the chance to move into first place in the Premier League when they take on West Ham United next weekend – depending on other results.
