Emre Can has been Liverpool's best signing says Jamie Carragher

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher stated that Emre Can has been the Reds best signing this season.

Carragher praised Can and admitted he is looking forward to seeing the 21-year-old play against Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor on the weekend against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.

“You want to see Can against Benteke and Ablongohor on Saturday, I think Can will always play, he has been Liverpool’s best signing,” Carragher said speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

Can joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen on a £9.75 million move this summer.

The 21-year-old joined as a central midfielder but has played most of the season as a key member of Brendan Rodgers back-three.

Rodgers was forced to use a back-four against Newcastle United tonight due to the suspension of Martin Skrtel and injury to Mamadou Sakho.

Can started in a back-four alongside Dejan Lovren for the first time this season and contributed towards the Reds keeping their first clean sheet in two games.

The Liverpool youngster has made a total of 33 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season.
