Emre Can is ‘setting a real standard’ for Liverpool youth players says Michael Beale [divider]

Liverpool U21 manager Michael Beale believes the first-team youngsters are inspiring the the clubs youth sides.

Beale singled out Emre Can, Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Lazar Markovic for praise.

“If you look at the young players in the Liverpool first team like Coutinho, Emre Can, Raheem Sterling and Lazar Markovic – they are setting a real standard for young players to go on and achieve,” Beale told Liverpoolfc.com.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has given several young players a chance this season.

Can is 21-years-old, Sterling is just 20, Ibe Jordan is 19, Coutinho is only 22 and Markovic is 21.

The Reds signed Can from Bayer Leverkusen for £9.75 million in the summer.

Can was born in Germany into a Turkish family like 20-year-old forward Samed Yeşil.

Liverpool signed Yeşil from Bayer for €1 million last season and he still has two-years left on his contract.

Yeşil has struggled with injuries and only recently recovered from a double cruciate ligament injury  The young striker is expected to return to U-21 football this month.
