Liverpool’s Emre Can has praised Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho for helping him learn the ropes in defence while at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old was signed as a midfielder from the Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in the summer but has spent the majority of his time on the pitch on the right hand side of a three back.

Can has played the majority of his teams alongside Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho in defence

“Martin and Mamadou have been very helpful to me,” Can told the official Liverpool website.

“They are both expert central defenders and that is very, very important. They talk to me a lot – before, during and after games.

“They help me a lot, they are both top players and it’s great to work with them. I am very grateful for the help they give me.”
