Emre Can has received his first red card at Liverpool in his sides 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old received his second yellow card in the 84th minute of the game. The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder slid in on Danny Welbeck from behind, earning him an early shower.

Liverpool legend Michael Owen criticised Can’s conduct while commentating for BT Sport.

“When on a yellow card, I don’t know what possesses people. Ridicules decision,” Owen stated.

Emre Can will receive a one match suspension for two yellows and will miss Liverpool’s game against Blackburn on Wednesday.
