Emre Can reveals Liverpool contract extension not on the table

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has stated that there have not been discussion between himself and the club regarding a new contract.

The 22-year-old did however reassure fans that he is enjoying his time at Anfield.

“I still have two years left. There have been no discussions yet. I am enjoying my time here.”

“It’s a great club, like a family, I’m very happy to be here and still have two years left.”

Can had an extended summer break after starring in the Germany national team side that reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals. The Germany international midfielder travelled to Turkey to meet friends and family in Aydin before heading off to the US west coast where he has been letting off steam in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Can joined Liverpool from the Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen back in 2014 for £10.2 million. The 22-year-old provided three assists and scored two goals in 49 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.

Liverpool take on Arsenal in their opening game of the 2016-17 Premier League season.
