Europa League Preview: Can anybody stop Besiktas?

Beşiktaş take on Skenderbeu at the Atatürk Olympic stadium knowing that a victory could be enough to book a place in the Europa League Round of 32.

Under the current permutations should Sporting Lisbon draw or lose against Spartak Moscow and Beşiktaş win it will ensure that the Black Eagles qualify of the next round.

Alternatively should Sporting beat Spartak it would mean that all three teams would have a chance of making it to the Round of 32. In fact should Skenderbeu beat Beşiktaş and the other game in the group end in a draw all four teams would have a chance of making it to the next stage going into Match Day 6.

Beşiktaş will however, be no pushover at home. The Istanbul giants have been on fire in the league and are unbeaten in 10 games winning eight of them. The Eagles have also scored the most goals in the league and are unbeaten in Europe.

Manager Şenol Güneş will be without Gökhan Töre who is injured but has more than enough quality in depth to cover the explosive winger.

Atiba Hutchinson and Oğuzhan Özyakup have been instrumental in the Eagles success this season. The midfield duo tend to dictate the tempo of the game with Atiba given a more defensive role while Özyakup orchestrates the defence. The former Arsenal man has been in great scoring four times and providing six assists already this season but the main goal scoring threat will undoubtedly be Mario Gomez who has netted 10 times this season.

Skenderbeu still have an outside chance of qualification but it is unlikely that they will be able to topple this Beşiktaş side in the form they are in.
