Besiktas press officer Metin Albayrak has confirmed that there has been offers for star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.

The former Arsenal youth has attracted the attention of Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho according to the Daily Star and the Premier League giants are reported to be preparing a £20 million move.

Speaking to the Sabah newspaper Albayrak revealed: “Yes there has been offers for Ozyakup but he has Champions League football this season.”

As Turkish-football.com reported yesterday Besiktas want to keep hold of the Turkish international midfielder. A source close to the club revealed that that a meeting was held with Ozyakup regarding his current situation and an agreement was reached that he will stay on over the summer.

Albayrak also confirmed that the club have made it clear to all his suitors that they want the 23-year-old to remain at the club.

“We have told every club that has made enquiries the same thing. Ozyakup played a key role in getting us to the Champions League and it is essential he gets to enjoy the fruits of his achievement playing first team football in the competition,” he added.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has however, stated that when Ozyakup is ready to leave he wants the midfielder to join United.

The Black Eagles have also recently turned down offers from Lazio and West Ham for the 23-year-old who played a key role in Besiktas winning the league title this season.

“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.

Ozyakup scored 10 times and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Eagles last season and still has another two-years remaining on his contract.
