Meireles is expected to leave Fenerbahçe as the club continue their policy of getting rid of the older members of the team.

The Yellow Canaries had one of the oldest average ages (30) last season and have already parted ways with several older members of the team including Bekir İrtegün, Selçuk Şahin, Egemen Korkmaz and Pierre Webo.

The Portuguese international is no stranger to Premier League football having enjoyed successful spells at both Liverpool and Chelsea.

The 32-year-old midfielder won PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in 2011 during his time playing at the Reds and went on to help the Blues win the Champions League and win the FA Cup.

Meireles signed for Fenerbahçe on a €10 million move from Chelsea in 2013 and has made a total of 84 appearances for the Yellow Canaries.
