Ex Arsenal striker wins first trophy in debut game for Galatasaray

Galatasaray striker Lukas Podolski won his first trophy in his first game for the Lions since joining from Arsenal over the summer transfer window.

Podolski starred in the European Super Cup final victory over Bursaspor.

The World Cup winner started against Bursaspor but it was Yasin Öztekin who scored the winning goal in the 1-0 win over the Green Crocodiles.

As you would have expected Podolski has been all over social media uploading pictures of his latest trophy.

The Germany internationals former teammates did not get their season off to a great start losing 2-0 against West Ham at the Emirates but they did win their own version of the Super Cup – the Community Shield – beating Chelsea at Wembley.

Galatasaray won the league title and cup double for the sixth time last season. The Lions lifted the Super Lig for a record 20th time and earned the right to add a fourth star to their crest.

The Istanbul giants booked a place in the Champions League group stages for the fourth consecutive season as a result of last seasons triumphs.

Galatasaray kick-off their league campaign next week against Sivasspor.
