Mesut Ozil was the star of the show in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League yesterday evening.
The Gunners secured their second spot and are four points clear of City going into the busy festive period.
Theo Walcott put the home side ahead with a well struck shot from outside the area in the 33rd minute. Olivier Giroud doubled the Gunners lead shortly before halftime.
Ozil provided the assists for both goal bringing his assist tally for the season up to 15. The 27-year-old is now just one assist away from equalling Theirry Henry’s record of 16.
The former Real Madrid man has been in sensational form this season and has won back-to-back Vitality Arsenal Play of the Month awards over the last two months.
Arsenal are now just two points off league leaders Leicester City. Arsene Wenger’s side take on Southampton in their next league game.
