Flawless Emre Can was Liverpool's best player in win over Swansea

Liverpool team news Emre Can

Emre Can was Liverpool’s best player in their 1-0 victory over Swansea in the Premier League according to ESPN.

The global sports website gave the 21-year-old a rating of 8/10 along with the following caption, “In the absence of the suspended Lucas, the young German excelled in a deeper role than usual.

Swansea’s attacking ambition was limited until they fell behind, but whenever they did venture forward they struggled to find any way past the powerful Can.

He was caught in possession once early in the second half but, aside from that, he was almost flawless.”

Can played in a defensive midfielder role to fill in for Lucas Leiva who was serving a one match suspension. The Germany international received a rating of 7.8 from WhoScored for his performance against the Swans. Can made a total of five clearances, four interceptions and four tackles.

The 21-year-old completed the highest number of passes for his side (80) at an 83 percent accuracy.

Can is likely to be rested ahead of Liverpool’s League Cup game on Wednesday against Southampton but is likely to return to the starting eleven in the Premier League next weekend. The young midfielder has scored one goal in 20 appearances for Liverpool this season.
