Former Beşiktaş U-16 goalkeeper Servet Dündar has died from injuries sustained after being stabbed by a gang of five people 10 days ago according to Sabah.

Dündar was rushed to the Taksim Training and Research Hospital in Gaziosmanpaşa after the incident and spent nine days in intensive care before losing his lift on Tuesday afternoon.

The 16 year old goalkeeper was attacked by a gang on Feburary 28 in the Sultangazi area of Istanbul.

The young goalkeeper’s relative İsrafil Dündar was also injured in the attack.

The argument that led to the incident was reported to be over a girl. The 19-year-old suspect and two of his friends were arrested and charged last week following the murder.

Dündar left the Black Eagles academy over the winter transfer window. The club released a statement expressing their condolences to his family.

The Eagles are currently joint first in the league on 51 points and face Club Brugge next in the Europa League Last 16.
