Redknapp recently resigned from his role as manager due to health problems.

Former Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood is expected to take over as full time manager at the West London club.

Ferdinand and Sherwood have experience working together at a coaching level during their time at Tottenham.

The former England international was loaned out from QPR to Turkish giants Beşiktaş in 1988.

Ferdinand scored 14 goals in 24 league games for the Istanbul club helping them to win the Turkish Cup.

The move helped propel the youngster into the QPR first team.

The Black Eagles wanted to keep Ferdinand on after the loan stay but he remained at QPR and later moved to Tottenham.
