Galatasaray 2 – 0 Besiktas

Galatasaray took a giant stride towards the league title following their 2-0 victory over Besiktas in the Istanbul Derby.

The Lions started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 11th minute when Yasin Oztekin was first to a rebound from his own shot.

Besiktas responded well and succeeded in pushing Galatasaray back within their own half. The Black Eagles came close to levelling the score when Demba Ba’s header struck the post midway though the first half.

The Eagles dictated play throughout the second half but were unable to find the equalising goal. Galatasaray were successful in creating chances via counter attackers towards the latter stage of the game.

Wesley Sneijder secured all three points for the home side when he found the back of the net from the edge of the box to give Galatasaray a 2-0 lead.
