Galatasaray manager denies move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu has denied rumours that PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join the club over the summer.

Hamzaoğlu underlined that Galatasaray would be unable to meet his wage demands.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not possible right now because his fee is too high,” Hamzaoğlu told TRT.

The Lions had been closely linked with a move for the Swedish international over the past few weeks.

The Galatasaray boss also revealed that his sides goal for the 2015-16 Champions League will be to progress past the group stages.

“Our Champions League goal is to make it out of the group stages and then go as far as we can,” he added.

The Lions had a disastrous Champions League campaign under former Italian national team boss Cesare Prandelli.

The Istanbul giants ended the group stages with one point from six games and conceded a staggering 19 goals.

Hamzaoğlu replaced Prandelli mid-way through the season and guided the Lions to their 20th league titles and 16 Turkish Cup.

Galatasaray have won the double six times – a Turkish record – and booked a place in the Champions League group stages in the process.
