Galatasaray midfielder Goran Pandev is set to join Genoa after failing to settle in according to Eurosport TR.
The Macedonian international joined the Lions from Napoli in the summer but has struggled for playing time, failing to impress former Italian national team head coach Cesare Prandelli and his successor Hamza Hamzaoğlu.
Pandev recently confirmed that he wants to leave the Istanbul giants at the end of the season.
Speaking to the Italian radio station CRC Pandev stated, “I left Italy as I wanted to try something new.”
“I hope to return to Italy as soon as possible.”
The 31-year-old forward is reported to be close to agreeing a two-year deal with Genoa.
An agreement is expected to be struck once Pandev is granted EU citizenship. Pandev joined Galatasaray on a free transfer from Napoli in the summer. The Macedonian international currently makes €2.4 million per season at the Lions.
The 31-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assist in 15 appearances for the Turkish giants this season.
