Trabzonspor are preparing a surprise bid for Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtle this summer.

The Turkish sports paper Fanatik claim the Lion’s want to strengthen their defence by signing the out-of-favour Slovakian international. Galatasaray are experiencing one of the worst years in their history and are planning major revisions to their squad.

Skrtel has lost his place in Liverpool’s starting line-up following the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

The 31-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract with the Red’s. Liverpool signed Skrtel from Zenit St. Petersburg back in 2008 and the experienced defender has made over 300 appearances for the Premier League giants.

Galatasaray have also been banned from European competition after breaching FIFA financial fair play regulations.

The Lion’s take on their Istanbul rivals Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend. Galatasaray are currently in sixth position with 45 points in 31 games.
