Galatasaray suffer blow to title challenge following Melo injury

Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo has been ruled out for two months due to a hernia the club revealed. The Lions released a statement confirming that Melo will undergo an operation on their official website.

The Red & Yellows have dropped points in the past when the Brazilian international has been suspended or injured.

During the 2013-2014 season Melo missed four games due to suspensions. Galatasaray failed to win any of the games the tenacious midfielder missed.

This season Melo has missed four games due to suspensions and two due to injury. Of the six games missed Galatasaray have won won four and drawn two.

Melo joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal from Juventus worth £3 million last summer after playing the previous two seasons on loan at the Lions.

The Brazilian midfielder has scored one goal in 21 appearances for Galatasaray in all competitors this season.
