Gençlerbirliği’s Romanian striker Bogdan Stancu undergoes surgery

Gençlerbirliği’s Romanian international striker Bogdan Stancu has undergone surgery following an injury sustained during his sides 2-1 defeat to Eskisehirspor last night.

The Romanian international was taken off due to an arm injury, scans later revealed a fracture on his left arm.

The surgery was carried put by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serdar Binnet at the Acıbadem Ankara hospital this morning.

Mr Binnet told LigTV that the players operation was successful and that he can return to training in the near future.

Stancu has scored nine goals in 20 appearances for Gençlerbirliği this season. The Romanian international previously played for Orduspor and Galatasaray in the Turkish SUper League.

Gençlerbirliği has lost four games in a row and are without a win in six games. The Ankara based side sit in 12th place with 22 points in 20 games. Gençlerbirliği take on bottom of the table Balıkesirspor this weekend in the league. Balıkesirspor sit in 18th spot with jus 13 points in 20 games.
