Germany boss thanks Liverpool for developing Emre Can

Liverpool star Liverpool team news

Germany manager Joachim Low praised Liverpool for developing Emre Can into a versatile player and improving his game.

Can joined the Reds on a £9.75 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen last summer as a central midfielder however, played predominantly as a defender in Brendan Rodgers back-three and as a full-back.

The 21-year-old has moved back into his preferred midfield role at Liverpool this season but Low decided to play Can as right-back on his international debut for Germany against Poland yesterday.

Germany won the Group D Euro 2016 qualification game 3-1 at Frankfurt and Can played the full 90 minutes.

“Emre had a good development at Liverpool and is a versatile player,” Low was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“We like his presence on the pitch and his dynamism. Now we want to get to know him a bit better.”

Germany move into first place in Group D overtaking Poland following the victory and take on Scotland next.
Can is also likely to feature against Scotland before returning to England for the Reds clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
