Ghana will stay in Istanbul for a two-week fitness program.

The choice of location is unusual considering Istanbul often experiences snow and unpredictable weather conditions in winter.

The Mediterranean coast is the destination of choice for most football clubs visiting Turkey for training purposes.

The Antalya region in particular is popular among football teams as it boasts on average 300 days of sunshine per-year and a warm climate during the winter months.

Sellas Tetteh’s side will face Mali, Zambia and South Africa in the youth tournament. The Ghana U20 side won bronze at the FIFA World Cup held in Turkey in 2013.

The 2015 Africa Youth Championship takes place between March 8-22.

There are currently nine Ghanian players plying their trade in Turkey.
