Gündoğan thanks the fans following Dortmund win [divider]
Borussia Dortmund midfielder İlkay Gündoğan thanked the fans for standing by the team following the 1-0 win against Hoffenheim on Friday.
“It wasn’t easy to cope with situation, particularly after losing to Frankfurt,” Gündoğan said.
“So that makes us even happier that we’ve shown our true colours tonight. I think we fully deserved the win. The fans were amazing tonight.”
Gündoğan scored the games only goal to take Dortmund off the bottom of the table.
The win was Dortmund’s second in their last 11 league games.
Gündoğan was one of the central figures of the Dortmund side that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season.
The 23-year-old was ruled out out of first team football for over 400 days with injury but has since recovered.
